Mokokchung, June 17 (MTNews): Bookipedia Web-based Library Management System was introduced at the Bookipedia Free Library, which is housed within the Urban Hub Café in Mokokchung on June 17th. Final-year students at the Institute of Communication & Information Technology (ICIT), Department of Computer Engineering, Mokokchung, developed the web-based library management system.

According to Er. Lanusenla Longkumer, Principal, ICIT, the initiative was part of the final year students’ curriculum as well as a community-focused project. “It is also our obligation as a technical institute to assist and give back to the community, and this project is one such effort,” she added. The students worked with two lecturers from the Department of Computer Engineering, Er. N. YibenthungTungoe and Er. Temjenmeren Longchari, to develop the system.

One of Bookipedia’s founders, Sentilong Ozukum, comm. ended the ICIT teachers and students for their voluntary help in creating the web-based library management system, which he described as a much-needed service for the library. He also expressed gratitude to the institute for sowing the seeds, saying that Bookipedia will fully utilise the technology and assist it in growing.

Bookipedia, the Free Library, was formed by a group of like-minded young people in Mokokchung in 2019 with the objective of encouraging the art of reading. Over 1500 books are accessible to read and borrow for free. The library is housed within the Urban Hub café on Mokokchung’s old town hall road.
