A sensational Naga pop musician, Imcha Imchen was first introduced to music when he was just 5 years old. He has performed in bands since his high school days, participated in plays, and joined choirs, all of which have cultivated his love for music. Imchen said that music has been in his blood ever since he was first exposed to it. He started writing songs when he was just 7 years old.
On July 20, 2018, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter debuted with his music video Moving On. His first music video, which featured Asong Pongener, has over 1 lakh views on YouTube. He has so far released six songs, all of which have received significant exposure across a variety of digital channels. He has also promised to release additional songs in the future.
Imchen improves with each release of his songs and he loves all of the music he has produced. However, he added that he would choose his single “Love in Paris” if he had to pick one of his best songs at random.
He started off young and by the time he was 19, music became an occupation for him. Imchen admitted that he faced his fair share of difficulties, but he asserted that without challenges, no one advances. “We simply need to concentrate on our goals, stop whining, and have faith in all we accomplish,” he remarked.
Speaking of music in Nagaland, Imchen noted that there is still a long way to go before people locally understand that music is also a viable career.
He took notice of this and stated that many artists from Nagaland (his circle of acquaintances) had put in a genuine effort to achieve the goal. He said that if one rises to the top, music will be recognized.
Success, in his opinion, is not something that comes lightly. “One has to know what’s going on and play your best,” he said.
Ever since January 28, 2021, the music video for “She’s a Walking Temptation” has received 107K views on YouTube. Imchen asserts that the song is based on a sweet story: Back in Bombay, he said he saw a woman at the club rocking with short hair, which got his head spinning; “She’s a walking temptation,” he thought, and with that, he had found the title for his song.
His original song “Spare My Heart” was included in Apple Music’s “Top 100 finest songs of 2020” in the year 2020.
