The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tuli has announced a temporary closure of NH-02 due to reports of recurrent rockslides and mudslides. This decision comes in response to concerns raised by M/S KKB Projects Pvt. Ltd and Langpangkong Tsukong Mungdang regarding the safety of commuters and workers amidst ongoing construction activities.

According to the ADC Tuli, the widening of the existing single/intermediate lane to a two-lane highway from 185.00 Km to 220.00 Km on NH-02 has triggered recurring rockslides and mudslides, posing a significant threat of disasters and life-threatening incidents.

To mitigate risks and ensure the safety of all stakeholders, ADC Tuli has ordered the closure of the affected stretch for a period of 15 days, starting from June 11 to June 24, 2024. The closure will be enforced daily from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM to minimize disruption to traffic flow and facilitate the smooth execution of ongoing construction work.

In this regard, only LMVs (Light Motor Vehicles) will be allowed to ply for emergency purposes during the road closure timings with prior permission from the concerned authority. The ADC informed that strict compliance with this order is mandated, and any defaulters or violators will face penalties and other punitive actions as per the relevant sections of the law.
