Temjenmenba, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Transport & Technical Education Department, Nagaland, inaugurated three boys’ hostels in Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK), Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA), and Government Polytechnic Tsunazho Chetheba Phek (GPTCP) on 25 July 2024 through virtual mode from the Directorate of Technical Education, Kohima, in the presence of the Director of Technical Education, officers, principals, and faculty of the department. Two hostels (GPK & KPA) were funded by CAFES-AICTE, and one hostel (GPTCP) was funded by the state government.

In his inaugural speech, the Advisor thanked the funding agencies and the state government for providing the funds to ensure that the students’ academic progress is not hampered due to a lack of proper residential facilities in the polytechnics. He also urged the faculty members to fulfill their duty in delivering skill education to the students and helping them maximize the benefits from the provisions made available by the central and state governments. He assured that as the Advisor to the government for Technical Education, he is committed to ensuring that similar facilities are provided in the future. He also made special mention of the contractors and thanked them for their cooperation with the department in allowing the hostels to be inaugurated despite pending bills by the government.

The inaugurated hostels have a 40-bed capacity each and are expected to create a conducive study atmosphere for the students, providing them freedom from accommodation and transit issues, which will further encourage them to focus on their educational careers.
