Akashvani Mokokchung hosted a Special Program on March 1, 2025 at Whispering Winds, Mokokchung, to honor the visit of Ashish Bhatnagar, Additional Director General (ADG) (A, BO & CO), North East Zone (NEZ), Guwahati. He was accompanied by Abino Lasuh, A/D HOP Kohima; Bhaskar Jyoti Gogoi, PEX; Iddong Pertin, HOP Pasighat; Dalimi Morang, HOP Tizu; Temsula Yimchunger, PEX Kohima; Lemjan Phom, PEX Pasighat; and Chintra Mein, TREX Guwahati.


Addressing a gathering, Ashish Bhatnagar, Additional Director General (ADG) lauded the significant role of Akashvani as the national public service broadcaster of India, emphasizing its extensive presence across the country.

Speaking on the importance of Akashvani in reaching the masses, Bhatnagar highlighted that it is the only broadcaster in Northeast India airing programs in 90 languages and dialects, a feat unmatched by any television channel in the country. He stated, “We are the voice of the Prime Minister, the government, and the common people. Akashvani is the bridge that connects the citizens with the nation’s leadership.”

He underscored the crucial role of Akashvani in disseminating government policies and developmental programs, ensuring transparency, and serving as a platform for citizens to voice their concerns. Calling for greater collaboration between government departments and Akashvani, he urged officials to actively use the medium to communicate their work with the public.

Expressing his admiration for the cultural richness and talent of Northeast India, Bhatnagar said, “The traditions of Mokokchung and the Northeast, with their deep respect for women and the environment, offer valuable lessons for the world. The sun rises from the East, and so does wisdom and talent.”

Encouraging the continued efforts of Akashvani Mokokchung in public service broadcasting, he assured his support in enhancing its reach and effectiveness. He also called upon listeners to share their feedback on the functioning of Akashvani and government departments, reinforcing the broadcaster’s commitment to being a voice for the people.

Concluding his address, he extended his best wishes to Akashvani Mokokchung and its listeners, affirming its role in promoting entertainment, education, and empowerment for all sections of society.

The event also saw short speeches from Abino Lasuh, Head of Program (HOP), Akashvani Kohima and Lemjan Phom, PEX Pasighat, both of whom highlighted the impact of Akashvani’s outreach in the region.

Prior to the special program, Ashish Bhatnagar, ADG engaged in a meaningful Informal Session at Akashvani Mokokchung, where he was warmly welcomed by the Akashvani officials and Casual Assignees of the station. The session provided an interactive platform for open dialogue, strengthening camaraderie within the broadcasting community.

Habemo Ngullie, PEX, Akashvani Mokokchung in his welcome address expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed guests, staff, and casual assignees of Akashvani Mokokchung for their presence. He emphasized the significance of their visit, stating that their support and encouragement serve as a source of inspiration for the station’s team.

Ngullie extended a warm appreciation to ADG Ashish Bhatnagar, acknowledging his leadership and guidance in pushing boundaries and achieving excellence. He remarked that the visit of such an esteemed and dynamic leader would enrich the team with valuable knowledge and motivation.

He also took the opportunity to thank Abino Lasuh, A/D HOP Kohima, for visiting the station, recalling the fond memories of her tenure as PEX, HOP till 2022. Ngullie expressed confidence that she would be delighted to witness the progress and fruits of her hard work during her time at the station.

Further, he highlighted the meticulous efforts put into organizing the event, ensuring that every segment was designed with care to meet the expectations of the guests. Ngullie concluded by expressing optimism for future collaborations and interactions, looking forward to strengthening the bond between the station and its esteemed guests.

ADG Ashish Bhatnagar opened the floor for casual assignees to introduce themselves. He interacted personally with each of them, showing keen interest in their roles and responsibilities. He also spent quality time with the staff from both the Program Section and the Engineering Department, discussing their work, challenges, and aspirations.

Earlier in the day, ADG Bhatnagar also conducted a tour and inspection of the Akashvani Mokokchung station, where he reviewed its infrastructure and operations. He provided valuable insights and recommendations, reaffirming his commitment to the development of the broadcasting sector in the region.

The session witnessed the presentation of the E-shorta Award and also featured short speeches from representatives of the Engineering Section and casual assignees, who shared their experiences and contributions to Akashvani.

The special program was compered by Bendangtemsu Ozukum and Kilenwala Imsong, who guided the evening’s lineup of performances and speeches. The cultural segment began with an enchanting performance of “Kentula” by Sashichila, Khensa & Co., followed by a soul-stirring musical piece and folk song by Guru Sangyusang Pongen, Ungma & Co.The event also featured an English melody performance by Tutu Pongen, followed by a folk fusion performance by Temsuyanger Jamir & Co. The evening concluded with a Hindi melody performance by Imsu Imsong followed by dinner.
