After the confiscation of guns in Alichen’s second gate on February 26 from a convoy of vehicles by police personnel, 19 persons are said to be in police custody.
According to sources, the accused were found with two AK-47 rifles, several live rounds, one small firearm, and a crude bomb.
While unconfirmed reports claim that the detained individuals were supporters of the BJP candidate Imkong L Imchen, official sources stated that an inquiry into which political group they are affiliated with is still ongoing.
“We still don’t know whether they were acting on the orders of a political candidate or not,” one officer maintained.
It was also discovered that the majority of individuals taken into custody were farmers and unemployed.
Sources also revealed that many managed to flee the scene when the incident happened on February 26.
