According to reliable sources, a few suspects have been detained and their statements are being recorded in relation to the alleged kidnapping and murder of Lt Imkongjeba Kichu of Chungtia village, whose body was recovered on February 22.

 

According to sources, the vehicle used in the incident is still being sought. A Maruti Gypsy is said to have first obstructed the vehicle in which the victim and his co-passenger were travelling before the assault.

 

“The case is proceeding well,” one of the officials stated, adding that the deceased’s post-mortem examination result is still awaited. It was explained that the post-mortem results normally take a week or so.

 

It was also stated that few of the suspects were brought before the District Magistrate today and were made to sign the bail bond. According to reports, some of the suspects have been released on bail.

 

Nonetheless, officials emphasized that because the matter is sensitive and investigations at the initial stage, they prefer not to disclose more details including the number of people in their custody until the investigation is complete.
