Mokokchung, 19 June (MTNews): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the “One government One Tax” policy after the ANTA headquarters office in Kohima was vandalized on Saturday, June 17.

ANTA stated that although they have encountered incidents where drivers had their keys snatched away before, they had never experienced anything like this vandalization. The association announced that an emergency meeting with all district presidents would be convened as soon as possible.

Furthermore, it was disclosed that the CCTV and office computer monitor were destroyed during the incident. Three suspects, comprising two students and one FGN cadre, were arrested. The two students were reportedly sent home the same day.

Tongpang, the ANTA Mokokchung President, who was in Kohima, expressed his solidarity and reiterated the association’s stance on the “one government one tax” declaration. He stood by the resolution made during the ANTA presidential meeting in Zunheboto on 25 March 2022 as well as in Peren earlier this year, where they firmly decided to cease tax payments until the “one government, one tax policy” is implemented.

Tongpang emphasized the importance of open discussion, stating, “Everything can be discussed on the table. But these acts of vandalism will not benefit anyone.” He also noted that there have been no reported incidents of this nature in Mokokchung so far, including threats to taxi drivers.
