The Ao Lanur Telongjem (ALT), the apex Ao youth organization, has expressed its strong support for the Chungtia Village Council and the Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU) over the substandard construction of the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Sabangya. ALT stated that it “stand[s] in solidarity with the community’s demand for accountability and quality in this vital public project.”
The ALT expressed deep concern over the reported lapses in construction, which were “acknowledged even by the contractor, KC Infra Projects Pvt Ltd.” The youth body described this admission of “lapses” as “a serious indictment of the work being carried out and confirms the legitimate grievances raised by the local bodies.” ALT emphasized that “public infrastructure projects, especially those related to healthcare, must be executed with the highest standards of quality and integrity.”
Praising the proactive stance of local bodies, ALT said it “commend[s] the Chungtia Village Council and the Chungtia Students’ Union for their proactive and vigilant stance.” It added that their “ultimatum for a joint inspection is a reasonable and necessary step to ensure that the rectification work is not merely a superficial fix but a genuine effort to address the core issues.” The organization criticized the Department of Health & Family Welfare, noting it is “unacceptable that despite their efforts, there has been no official response from the Department of Health & Family Welfare.”
The ALT supported “the demand for a joint inspection involving the Chungtia Village Council, the Chungtia Students’ Union, the district administration, civil societies, and the Department officials,” calling it “crucial to transparently assess the extent of the damage and the quality of ongoing repairs.”
ALT stressed that “the rectification work must be thorough and not just a quick patch-up job,” and that the Department must “hold the contractor accountable to a standard that ensures the longevity and safety of the hospital structure.”

While acknowledging the contractor’s aim to meet the “January 2026 deadline,” ALT warned that this “cannot come at the expense of quality” and that “the satisfaction of the community and the public must be the paramount goal, not just the ‘satisfaction of the Department.’”
ALT criticized the “lack of a response from the Department” as “a failure of communication,” urging officials to “engage in open and transparent dialogue with the stakeholders and provide a clear plan of action.”
ALT emphasized that “the construction of the AYUSH Hospital is a significant investment in the health and well-being of our community” and warned that “we cannot allow this project to be marred by poor workmanship.” The youth body concluded that it “will continue to monitor the situation closely and will not hesitate to take further action to ensure that the concerns of the public are addressed and a quality hospital is delivered to the people of Mokokchung.”
