A joint execution program for handing over and taking over of 18.8 acres of land presently occupied by the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) at 3rd Mile, Chumoukedima, to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for Phase-I development of Dimapur Airport was held on Friday at Dimapur Airport.

The program marked a key step in the airport’s ongoing development plan and was attended by officials from the Airport Authority of India, Assam Rifles and the State Government.

Those present included Moa Pongen, APD, AAI, Dimapur Airport; Commandant KD Sharma, CO, No. 2 Bn, ARTC&S; Sentiwapang Aier, NCS, Secretary, AIR Cell, Transport Department; Polan John, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima; M Ababe Ezung, OSD, Transport Department, along with other officials.

Officials inspected the identified 18.8-acre area situated at ARTC&S, 3rd Mile, Chumoukedima, following which the formal handing over and taking over program was executed in the presence of State Government representatives, including the Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima and Secretary, AIR Cell, Transport Department.

During the meeting, the transfer of the remaining land presently under the occupation of ARTC&S for Phase-II development of Dimapur Airport was also discussed. It was agreed that further directives from the appropriate authorities would be required for transfer of the remaining areas for Phase-II works.
