Wokha, 19 June (MTNews): The proposed bandh called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) on 20 May in regard to the ongoing ‘discrepancies and inadequate execution of the two-lane construction project on NH-2 from KM 72.40 to KM 83 in Wokha district’ has been temporarily called off.

This decision came after a written assurance was provided by the district administration today in the presence of concerned departments, the construction firm, and civil society representatives, including the Lotha Hoho.

A four-hour meeting was held today at the Deputy Commissioner Hall, attended by the National Highway Kohima Division, line departments, Lotha Hoho, TTC constructions firm, Wokha village, Longsa village council, the convener of the Joint Action Committee, as well as Presidents of Wokha Village Youth Organizations, Wokha Village Elders’ Forum, and Land Owners Union Wokha.

During the meeting, the district administration gave a written assurance that they would address the concerns raised and expedite the construction work as demanded by the JAC. In light of this assurance, the Joint Action Committee has decided not to dissolve the committee until the written assurance is duly fulfilled.
