A seven-day basic blacksmith training programme under the Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship concluded at Chetheba Town in Phek district on Wednesday.

Conducted by Zynorique Initiatives Society (ZIS) under the initiative “Providing Access to Core Employability Skills (PACES)”, the programme saw participation from 25 candidates and comprised 50 hours of intensive training.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Kehuye Keyho said the skills imparted would be put to practical use and appreciated the trainers for their dedication. He encouraged participants to continue practising and use the knowledge gained to earn a livelihood while contributing to society.
Another trainee, Bedulhu Nienu, termed the initiative a “noble step” towards livelihood generation and expressed hope that it would benefit the participants in the long run.
Addressing the gathering, Setsoyi Keyho, Chairman of the Chetheba Town Welfare Committee, said the training was much needed for the youth and expressed confidence that it would yield positive results. He urged trainees to remain committed to the trade, stressing the importance of dedication, hard work, and continuous practice for achieving financial stability.
NPF 18th AC General Secretary Thepukrayi Nienu noted that this was the first such training programme in Chetheba and lauded the organisers for their efforts. He expressed hope that more such initiatives would be introduced to support sustainable livelihoods.
The programme aims to enhance job readiness among rural youth and women by equipping them with practical, demand-driven skills for self-employment.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Ruvezo Nienu, with the benediction pronounced by Thenuzhoyi Swuro, Deacon, CRC Thenyizu. Toolkits and certificates were distributed to all trainees upon completion.
