Wokha, November 14 (MTNews): Thanksgiving and launching program of Lithanro Coffee Curing Unit was held at Lithanro Coffee Farm in Sanis, Wokha on November 14.

The inauguration of the unit was done by Navin Kumar Bahl Ryntathiang, Joint Director (Extension), Coffee Board, Govt. of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Guwahati, Assam in the presence of Albert Ngullie, Additional Director, Land Resources Department, Nagaland. The program was dedicated by Rev. Dr. K Benry Lotha, Senior Pastor of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church.

 

In his inaugural speech, Navin Kumar expressed happiness that someone somewhere in a small town in the North East has started this venture of setting up a Coffee Curing Unit and that this venture has added to the economy of the state. While congratulating the proprietor of LCCU, he stated that the coffee growers are blessed that they now have a coffee curing unit in their backyard.

 

Albert Ngullie in his special address while congratulating the proprietor for setting up this coffee curing unit stated that the department is looking at 3Es in promoting coffee cultivation in the state- Employment generation, Economic enhancement, and Environment protection. He encouraged the coffee growers that they should be sincere and dedicated to produce the best quality coffee.

 

The program was attended by Bijaya Barman, Pathologist and Officer-in-Charge, Regional Coffee Research Station, Coffee Board, GoI, Diphu, Assam, and Partha Pratim Choudhury, Dy. Director Coffee Board, GoI Jorhat Assam, and officials of Land Resources Department, coffee growers from nearby villages and districts.

 

In his vote of thanks, the proprietor of Lithanro Coffee Curing Unit, Searon stated that the initiative is one way to bring the market to the growers at their doorstep making it easier for them. He believes that this unit is going to be a beacon of change to help reorganize the mindset of the people that even private enterprises are deemed worthwhile in creating job opportunities and contributing to the state’s economy, mentioning that agro-based industries are the future and they are to be a part of it.
