C-Edge College organised a pre-World Tourism Day programme at Manen Hall on September 25 under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, with the objective of creating awareness among students about tourism, sustainability and emerging opportunities in the sector.
Lochumi N. Shitio of Voyages Travels and Meyatemsu, Assistant Professor, Department of English, C-Edge College, served as resource persons.
The speakers discussed changing trends in the tourism industry and the growing role of digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in travel, tourism services and destination promotion. They also stressed the need to balance technological advancement with sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
The programme provided students an opportunity to explore tourism as an avenue for employment, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange and local development.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on the role of young people in promoting responsible tourism and contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
