Kohima, 20 October (MTNews): The Chief Electoral Officer, Joint CEO, and Assistant CEO of Nagaland held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties in the state on 20 October in connection with the Special Summary Revision of photo electoral rolls with respect to the qualifying date of 1 January 2024.

During the meeting, the CEO’s team highlighted the legal provisions of the revision exercise and briefly explained the schedule of the ongoing special summary revision. The political parties were encouraged to appoint their Booth Level Agent (BLA) to assist the electoral machinery in creating an authentic and error-free photo electoral roll for the smooth conduct of elections. The party representatives were provided with copies of relevant forms and the Election Commission’s instructions related to the revision process.

The CEO informed that with the announcement of the schedule for the bye-election in the 43-Tapi (ST) Assembly Constituency on 13 October 2023, the Model Code of Conduct became operational throughout Mon district. Political parties were informed that Committees at the State level under the CEO, as well as district-level under the District Election Officer/Returning Officer, are in place to oversee the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.

He called upon all political parties to extend cooperation for the successful conduct of the Special Summary Revision 2024 exercise and the bye-election for the 43-Tapi (ST) Assembly Constituency.
