The Chakhesang Community Diezephe (CCD) organised the Sükürnye Festival along with a Wrestling Meet on January 15, 2026, at 10:00 am at Diezephe Village, marked by great enthusiasm and traditional fervor.
The programme was graced by Er. Vezota Khusoh, Team Member, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Government of Nagaland, as the honoured guest. The event was compered by Vekhosato Dozo and Eli Ruyivol Nyekha, who guided the programme with clarity and grace.
The programme began with an invocation prayer pronounced by Poseruh Lohe, Pastor, AGCD, seeking God’s guidance and blessings. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Mhaseo Dozo, Chairman, CCD, who highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of the Skrnye Festival as a time of thanksgiving, unity, and renewal within the Chakhesang community.
A special moment of reverence was marked when Yekronu Lupu, the oldest member of CCD, pronounced the act of blessing, symbolising respect for elders and continuity of tradition. The cultural segment featured soulful folk songs rendered by Nukudul Medeo and Eli Kese Tsory, adding colour and cultural richness to the celebration.
The Wrestling Meet, a major attraction of the day, was conducted in two categories: Senior Category (open for all) and Under-15 Junior Category (open for all), drawing keen participation and spectatorship. In the Senior Category, Rukubilhü Nyekha secured first place, followed by Vesata Medeo in second place and Hukhoneyi Sazo in third place.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Vezoto Chzho, Vice-President, CCD, followed by a closing prayer offered by Leluthi Tsory, Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church Diezephe. The celebration ended with the traditional Sükürnye Feast, fostering fellowship and communal harmony.
