The Karnataka Police reportedly arrested a choreographer accused of sexually assaulting a young woman from Nagaland in Bengaluru. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when the victim, a final-year BCA student, was returning from a party in Koramangala, IANS reported.
The assault took place under the jurisdiction of HSR Layout police station. According to sources, the woman was offered a lift by the accused, who later took her to an isolated area near a truck parking zone on Hosur Service Road, where the crime occurred.
According to the police, the victim, who was reportedly in an inebriated state, had been traveling with friends after attending a get-together in Chandapura, on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
“She was travelling in a car with her friends. On Hosur Main Road, the car had collided with an auto following which an altercation broke out between the auto driver and one of her friends who was driving the vehicle,” IANS reported.
An altercation with an auto driver on Hosur Main Road led to police arriving at the scene, which caused the woman to panic. In a state of shock, she left her friends without informing them and sought help from a passing bike rider to reach her home. She switched to another bike en route, which was driven by the accused.
During the attack, the victim resisted, leaving visible scratches on the accused’s face. She managed to send an emergency message to a friend, who, along with others, tracked her location.
“The victim was found naked behind a truck. Her friends had noticed a stranger standing in the spot and when they tried to question him, he fled. The friends had admitted her to a hospital in Bommasandra,” reported IANS.
The police launched an investigation, utilizing CCTV footage to identify and locate the suspect. He was apprehended at his residence in Adugodi, Bengaluru. Authorities confirmed that the accused had taken advantage of the victim’s vulnerable state, and the investigation is ongoing.
