The newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio told reporters today in New Delhi that he welcomes the opposition-less government and believes that it will be good in order to solve various issues in the ‘troubled state’ of Nagaland.

According to him, Nagaland is a troubled state with various issues to be resolved such as the Naga political issue, the ENPO issue and a pending delimitation issue.
He also said that he is hopeful that a Naga political solution will come about because of the January 14, 2023 joint statement where the NSCN-IM and the NNPGs have come together and signed a joint statement stating that on the basis of the political and historical right, they will collectively resolve the issue.
The Chief Minister together with Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, Minister of Rural development, Metsubo Jamir, Adviser to CM Abu Metha also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah among other Union Ministers in New Delhi today.
“We came here to pay our respect and thank them (PM and his ministers) because they have not only come for campaigning but came for oath taking ceremony also,” Rio told reporters.
The Chief Minister also called upon Union MoS for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar where he said they exchanged thoughts on strengthening and taking optimum advantage of opportunities in the IT and entrepreneurship sector in the State.
The Chief Minister and his team also called on Union Minister for the Ministry of Women and Child Department and Minority Affairs, Smriti Z Irani; Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and MDoNER India, G Kishan Reddy; Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla; Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda and Union Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju.
Earlier, the CM and his team had visited President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “Was visited by CM Nagaland @Neiphiu_Rio Ji & Dy CM @YanthungoPatton Ji. Congratulated them on taking the oath of office for another term. Under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji, may the new govt pace up the journey toward prosperity based on the peace achieved till now.”
The official account of the Prime Minister’s Office also tweeted a photo of Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
