The Vice President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) and in-charge of Mokokchung district, Captain GK Zhimomi, admitted that the Congress party had been dormant in the state for some years but added that it is now experiencing a resurgence.

Addressing party functionaries after inaugurating the district’s new Congress ‘Bhavan’ in Majakong Ward, Mokokchung, Zhimomi urged party workers to unite and reinvigorate the Congress in the district, with the larger goal of reviving the party in the state and forming the government after the next election.
Allaying concerns about internal challenges, Zhimomi stated that expressing resentment should ultimately serve the party’s best interests. He said that the Congress party has the best organizational structure among political parties, comprising five frontals and 32 departments. He further asserted that appointing the right people to these positions would strengthen the party.
The state Congress leader also described the political contest between Congress and the BJP as a battle of ideologies, asserting that while the BJP functions entirely under the RSS vision of uniformity, the Congress party upholds the principle of unity in diversity.
Zhimomi maintained that the Congress does not discriminate between its members and urged workers to cooperate and strengthen the party to bring about meaningful reforms in the state.
Expressing optimism at the outcome of the day’s event, he remarked, “The enthusiasm of party workers was evident in the full turnout of all officials, making it a memorable occasion.”
Following the inauguration of the Bhavan—marked by the hoisting of the Congress party flag by Zhimomi—the District Congress Committee, frontal chiefs, and all 10 Assembly Constituency Congress Committees of the district held separate meetings with the visiting party leaders.
Earlier, while delivering the welcome address, Mokokchung DCC President Watimongba Aier acknowledged that there had been some misunderstandings within the party in the district since last November. However, he stated that these issues had now been amicably resolved. He urged party members to put aside past differences and work together toward strengthening the party.
The meeting was chaired by I Temsu Jamir, Vice President of the DCC.
