Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati expresses frustration
The ongoing “Gaudhwaj Sthapna Bharat Yatra,” aimed at promoting cow protection, encountered a significant roadblock as Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati was denied entry into Nagaland. The state’s government, citing concerns over potential disturbances to public order and the constitutional provisions of Article 371(A), has prohibited the Gau Dhwaj Yatra within the Kohima district.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, issued a statement underscoring that the ban aligns with directives from the Nagaland government. The decision is based on apprehensions that the event might disrupt public order, particularly in light of the unique protections granted to the state under Article 371(A).
According to India Today NE, Swami Avimukteshwaranand, who addressed a gathering during his yatra, expressed deep disappointment over the restrictions. “I have not harmed anyone nor spoken ill of any individual. All I seek is the chance to convey my message to the people. Why am I being stopped?” he questioned.
The swami, whose yatra advocates for the cultural and religious importance of cow protection within Sanatan Dharma, called on the Chief Ministers of Northeastern states to allow his journey to proceed and urged for an open dialogue on the issue of cow slaughter.
Despite the setback in Nagaland, Swami Avimukteshwaranand received a warm welcome in Sikkim, where local dignitaries hosted him. Reiterating his commitment to the cause, he vowed to continue the yatra, stating, “If I am not allowed to speak about the sanctity of cows, then shoot me.”
