Mokokchung, 17 April (MTNews): With the campaigning period for the Lok Sabha 2024 election in Nagaland scheduled to be held on 19 April coming to an end at 4:00 pm of 17 April as per Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji has invoked section 144 CrPC, 1973. This section will remain in force until 20 April 2024 throughout the entire district of Mokokchung.

As such, DC & DEO Mokokchung has ordered that no person shall convene, hold, attend, join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with an election or display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, television or other similar apparatus.

Propagating any election matter to the public by holding or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public has also been prohibited.

Further, the order mentioned that holding of any public meeting shall be prohibited in the District. Door to door visits may be allowed with prior permission of DEO/ARO of the Assembly Segment, it added.

It was also informed that all political functionaries/party workers/campaign workers who are not the voters or residents of the assembly constituency shall immediately leave that constituency.

Officials and staff of district administration, security personnel, magistrate on duty, medical personnel, students travelling for examination, and persons engaged in election duty or essential services shall be exempted from all above restrictions, it was informed.
