The Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has strongly condemned the threatening calls made against the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in relation to their efforts to collect data for the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Dimapur. In a statement, the DSSU, which is a unit of DNSU, affirmed its support for DNSU during this “crucial juncture.”

The DSSU noted that the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union has been working “with utmost sincerity and dedication” to address the ILP issue, as discussed in the Assembly. However, the union has received threats attempting to disrupt this process. DSSU declared, “Let it be known that if anyone from the Sumi community or if any organization or individual attempts to threaten, hijack, or intimidate in our joint pursuit of this common issue, we will not be deterred.” The union emphasized that it would “leave no stones unturned in our efforts to safeguard this genuine Naga issue” and warned that stern action would be taken against any group or individual involved in such intimidation.

The DSSU condemned such actions as “unacceptable” and stated that they “go against the principles of peaceful coexistence and democratic values.” The union appealed to other student bodies to stand united, emphasizing that the ILP issue is a “collective Naga cause” that transcends tribal affiliations. “We urge you to rise above tribal lines and work together for the greater good of our Naga community,” the DSSU said, stressing that the ILP issue “affects us all, regardless of our tribal affiliations.”

The DSSU called for unity, saying, “We cannot let tribal differences divide us on this critical matter.” The statement urged all to “come together for the greater cause of our Naga nation,” asserting, “We owe it to ourselves, our future generations, and our ancestral land.”

“We will not be silenced, we will not be intimidated,” the DSSU further declared.

The Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) has strongly condemned recent threats and intimidation aimed at obstructing the lawful data collection for the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Dimapur. The ASUD emphasized that the ILP is not merely a statutory mechanism but “a fundamental and inalienable right of the Nagas and a legal tool to preserve and protect the identity, culture, and demographic integrity” of the Naga people.

In a statement, the ASUD declared, “As a staunch unit under the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), the Ao Students’ Union Dimapur stands united and unwavering in its support of the ILP initiative.” The organization vowed to resist any attempts to derail the ILP process, asserting, “We will go to any extent necessary, using all lawful means at our disposal, to defend and uphold the legitimate rights of the Naga people.”

The ASUD further clarified that the ILP is not a “persecution drive” but a protective framework designed to “maintain the delicate demographic balance of indigenous tribes in the North-Eastern region of India.” The statement highlighted the historical consequences faced by regions due to unchecked demographic changes, asserting, “We are determined not to let that happen to our homeland.”

Addressing opponents of the ILP, the ASUD stated, “Any Naga individual or organization of sound conscience and national pride will never oppose this Inner Line Permit initiative.” The group labeled those against the ILP as “traitors or parasites,” accusing them of “forsaking their own people for selfish gains or ideological confusion.”

The ASUD warned that “any individual, group, or organization attempting to threaten, harass, or intimidate those engaged in this joint pursuit will face dire consequences.” The organization reiterated its commitment to defending the rights and safety of those involved in the ILP initiative, declaring, “No stone will be left unturned in defending our rights and our people.”

The ASUD has called upon all Naga tribes, units, and concerned citizens to unite in this effort, stating, “The ILP issue is a Naga cause of the highest order; it must be met with collective concern, unity, and sincerity.” The statement concluded with an appeal for serious engagement, asserting, “This is a fight for the survival and dignity of our people, and we urge all to take up this cause with the seriousness it demands.”
