Dimapur, 5 October (MTNews): In Dimapur, a total of 112 cases of fever with rash have been reported. Among these, 53 cases have been confirmed as Measles, and 3 have been confirmed as Rubella. The Chief Medical Officer of Dimapur has taken proactive measures to enhance surveillance and has initiated a special immunization response in areas with high case concentrations.

These actions align with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s guidelines for MR Elimination by 2023.

The Chief Medical Office has announced a special immunization drive scheduled to take place from 6 to 14 October, encompassing all health units within the district. During this drive, every child aged 9 months to 5 years will receive one dose of the MR vaccine.

The department has further requested colony members, Churches, Civil Society Organizations, allied departments, and the community to support in ensuring the success of the immunization drive.

Measles is a highly contagious, airborne disease that affects children and Rubella is an acute, contagious viral disease in children and adults.
