NATIONAL DOCTORS’ DAY 2022 CELEBRATED AT DHFW

 

Kohima, July 1 (MTNews): National Doctors’ Day 2022 was celebrated at Directorate of Health & Family Welfare on Friday under the theme “Family Doctor on the Front Line” which was organized by State Health Agency (Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY). The program was graced by Tongpang Ozukum, Minister of PWD (Housing & Mechanical) as the Special Guest.

 

 

Tongpang Ozukum in his speech greeted the doctors on the auspicious celebration and expressed his gratitude for the honor of being in the presence of doctors whom he quoted “the personification of god on earth.” He said that being a doctor is not just an honor but a huge responsibility and has little room for mistakes/error because a doctor’s mistakes costs precious lives. He reminisced that during the pandemic, he personally encountered many doctors who went above and beyond the call of duty and recalled that it was a huge learning experience for him. Ozukum further urged the doctors to recommit and retrospect oneself to be progressive.

 

Further, he congratulated all the 10 Awardees of Best Performing Doctors under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. While lauding the AB PM-JAY scheme, which is the largest Government funded scheme in the world, he urged the department to sensitize the scheme thoroughly so that the queries & benefits of the rightful beneficiaries can be made aware of. He further suggested the scheme to come up with a comprehensive survey of its implementation. He acknowledged and appreciated the state’s vast improvement in medical facilities and infrastructure, and encouraged all doctors to re-dedicate and re-commit oneself to the job.

 

The program commenced with greetings from Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, Principal Director DHFW wherein a minute of silence was observed for all the deceased doctors lost to the pandemic, after which he extended his best wishes to all the Doctors for the sacrifices rendered thus far and shared his hope for more dedication from the doctors to save lives.

 

Asangla Imti, Secretary to the Govt. of Nagaland, H&FW in her short speech recapitulated the process and selection of awardees from the district level that performed exceptionally for the AB-PMJAY scheme. Further, she reminded that this award was not to undermine the rest of the hardworking doctors but rather a motivation.

 

Dr. Joyce Angami, President Nagaland Medical College subsequently shared words of encouragement and motivation. Having mentioned the history of this day, she asserted that this day is celebrated not just in commemoration of Dr. B C Roy butalso to showcase the achievement of all doctors in their highest caliber as respectable and dignified people of the society.

 

The program was chaired by Dr. Visasieu Kire, Director (H), Dr. Thorhusie Katiry, MD NHM pronounced vote of thanks and Dr. Viketoulie Pienyu, Acting MS SMHI presented a special number.
