Mokokchung, March 1 (MTNews): Petroleum and oil marketing companies hiked the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 50 per unit with immediate effect from Wednesday.
According to the revised rates, the total cost of the domestic LPG cylinders will be Rs 1,160 in Mokokchung district.
When inquired about the surge in the rates, Temjen of Immanuel Gas Agency told this newspaper that the company updates the prices of the cylinders on the first of every month.
This increase in rate is the first increase in almost eight months and comes within days of the end of polling in three northeastern states.
Criticizing the move, Indian National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in a tweet said the common man is suffering from “back-breaking inflation under the Modi government.”
“How long will these orders of loot continue?” he asked.
At the same time, the rates of commercial LPG cylinders were also hiked by Rs 350.5.
