Sentilong Longkumer | Chuchuyimlang | January 9

Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (LKM) commemorating 75 years of existence and LKM 33rd Sports Meet commenced its 5-day celebration on January 9 under the theme, “Terangrang Lensar,” (Dynamic Pioneers) at Chuchuyimlang with Amenba Yaden, MLA, Government of Nagaland gracing the inaugural session as Chief Guest. Dr. Sentitula Pongen, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Mokokchung was the theme speaker.

Amenba Yaden while speaking on the occasion stated that the Jubilee Celebration, with the theme “Dynamic Pioneers” is perfectly timed.

LKM has attained an important milestone in celebrating its Jubilee, and it has served as a torch bearer for youths and people in general who have worked hard under challenging circumstances, he said.
He went on to say that LKM has taken an active part in bringing individuals to the forefront in a variety of ways.

Citing the famed Jamaican writer Marcus Garvey’s quote, “A people without knowledge of its prior history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots,” he encouraged youths to reflect on their lives and to embrace and maintain their cultural heritage and identity.

Concerning the Naga Political issue, the failure to address it on time has harmed the economy and reduced the opportunities for employment for the state’s youth, he said, adding that the ‘election tale’ was halted as the people expected a Naga Political solution, but with no resolution, the election is likely to take place.

Yaden remorsefully added that a picture of disintegration is evident with some parts of Nagaland wanting for a separate state; thus, he encouraged the people to embrace, support and encourage each other to work hand in hand.
