Mokokchung, February 28 (MTNews): The Election Commission of India has on Tuesday said that re-poll will be held in four polling stations in as many assembly constituencies in Nagaland on March 1.
The polling stations where re-poll are to be held include 9-New Colony S/W under 35-Zunheboto AC; 9-Pangti V under 39 Sanis AC; 7-Jaboka Village under 41-Tizit AC; and 3-Pathso East Wing under 57-Thonoknyu AC.
In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, the ECI informed that it took the decision to order the re-poll in these polling stations based on the reports submitted by General Observers and after taking all material circumstances into account.
The re-polling will be held between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM in accordance with the Commission’s instructions contained in Chapter XIII of the Hand Book for Returning Officers, the EC order said.
“Ensure that wide publicity is given by beating of drums or any other convenient mode in the aforementioned polling stations’ areas. Inform the political parties and contesting candidates in writing about the fresh poll being taken on the said date…,” the ECI’s letter to the state CEO said.
Aonglenden AC: No information on re-poll
According to Amongin Imsong, the Chief Agent for INC candidate Toshipokba Longkumer, the scrutiny on the alleged ‘proxy-voting’ by NDPP supporters took place today in the presence of the Returning Officer, Longdiba L Sangtam and Observers.
According to Imsong, the RO stated that he cannot comment on the possibility of a re-poll.
He went on to say that they had written an application to the DC Mokokchung about the same issue but had yet to receive a response or information.
