Chairman of the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI), Dr Khekugha Muru, on Tuesday shared a series of photos with Mokokchung Times, revealing a heap of garbage openly dumped by the roadside in Khermahal, Dimapur. “Plight of shop-owners and citizens, in the heart of Dimapur city,” he lamented, referring to the public health hazard posed by indiscriminate dumping of waste and the apparent negligence of concerned authorities.
Dr Muru emphasized that the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) should not always shift the blame onto citizens but should fulfill its duty. He said that the collection of sanitation taxes is mandatory for every shop when issuing a trade license, underscoring the importance of the municipal body taking proactive measures to address the pressing issue of garbage disposal in Dimapur.
