Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress President Herole Y has extended support to the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) rally for religious freedom to be held in Kohima.
Herole Y said religious freedom is a fundamental right and urged that concerns raised by the Christian community be taken seriously. He called on the Nagaland Government to take a clear stand and strongly present the concerns of the people of Nagaland before the Central Government.
He further urged the State Government to put pressure on the Centre to ensure that the religious freedom and constitutional rights of the people are protected.
“The government should listen to the concerns of the people and take up the matter seriously with the Central Government. Nagaland has its own unique social, cultural and religious context, and the voices of its people must be respected,” he said.
Herole Y also appealed to the people to remain peaceful and united while raising their concerns through democratic and constitutional means.
The NJCF has called the rally as a peaceful expression of concern over issues affecting religious freedom and the Christian community. Herole Y said the Youth Congress stood with the call to protect freedom of faith, conscience and peaceful religious practice.
He further urged the State Government and elected representatives to work together to ensure that the concerns of the people of Nagaland are clearly heard at the national level.
