Hospitals in Nagaland are halting services related to Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) due to non-payment of dues by Future Generali India Insurance Company. Eden Medical Centre announced on December 30, 2024, that it would suspend all treatment services under these schemes until the outstanding dues are settled.

Following this, Faith Hospital issued a statement on January 9, 2025, expressing its regret over the inconvenience caused to beneficiaries. The hospital revealed that the treatment services under both AB-PMJAY and CMHIS EP had also been suspended by the insurance company.

The suspension of services has sparked concerns among the beneficiaries of these health schemes, especially state government employees and pensioners, whose premiums are being deducted regularly.

Nagaland Congress Vice President, GK Zhimomi, strongly criticized the situation, saying, “Prominent hospitals in Nagaland are suspending medical treatment services under AB-PMJAY and CMHIS-EP.

Insurance premiums are being deducted monthly from state government employees and pensioners, but they are made to suffer for no fault of theirs. Will the concerned authorities wake up?”
In response to the suspensions, the Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) clarified that services under both the PM-JAY and CMHIS schemes have not been suspended. The NHPS stated that the issue arose from a miscommunication by the insurance company, which has now been resolved. It further assured the public that all empanelled hospitals had been informed that the services remain active and operational.

”The services are fully functional unless a particular hospital has decided to suspend them unilaterally, which would be a violation of the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),” the NHPS stated.

The NHPS urged all stakeholders, including hospitals, to verify information with the competent authority before issuing any notices to avoid confusion among the public. For any concerns or clarifications, the NHPS provided a toll-free number: 1800-202-3380.
