A two-day training program on Value Addition of Horticulture Crops was held at the training hall of the District Horticulture Office (DHO), Kiphire, where 50 students from Agape Higher Secondary School and Zisaji Presidency Government College participated. The event was graced by Nitile Tep, NCS, as the special guest.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Nitile Tep appreciated the department for creating a platform to transfer knowledge to young minds in the district. Stressing the importance of sustainability and employability, she urged participants to pay special attention, equip themselves with skills, and pass on their learning. She further highlighted the various opportunities and schemes available in the horticulture sector, encouraging students to seize them.

In her welcome address, Niulu Meyo, Assistant Labour Commissioner, praised the DHO for organizing an informative and insightful program. Senti Longchar, District Horticulture Officer (DHO), who chaired the event, outlined the main objectives of the training and expressed gratitude to CIH Medziphema for sponsoring the program.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Tsarose, Officer-in-Charge, Fire and Emergency Services, acknowledged the active participation of trainees and appreciated the DHO and CIH for organizing the beneficial program.

The technical sessions included:
· “Importance and Scope: Value Addition of Horticulture Crops” with a special focus on Kiphire district.
· “Untapped Horticulture Crops of Nagaland and Their Economic Value”, conducted by KVK Kiphire.
· Hands-on training and demonstration by Esther Sangtam, Linsi SHG, Anatongre.

The next training session will be conducted at the same venue, targeting another 50 students from Loyola Higher Secondary School and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kiphire.
