Model Christian College, Kohima celebrated its annual Cultural Day under the theme “Echoes of Culture: A Spectrum of Heritage and Identity” on 5th April 2025 at the college auditorium. The event witnessed a vibrant display of folk songs, folktales, traditional games, and war cries.


Watienla Jamir, Director of Horticulture (Retired) and Advisor of the Nagaland Flower Growers Society, Kohima, Watsu Telen, graced the occasion as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that the Nagas have long practiced conservation and lived a sustainable lifestyle, a distinct cultural practice since time immemorial.

The speaker mentioned that the customs of our forefathers and even our local languages are on the verge of extinction. She stressed the importance of preserving and embracing traditional practices, such as traditional clothing, and documenting them for future generations. She also emphasized that practicing traditional arts and crafts can help sustain livelihoods.

She encouraged the audience to teach and advocate for cultural practices through conversations, storytelling within the community, and the use of social media platforms.

The programme ended with prize distribution to the participants, a vote of thanks delivered by Heanlen Angh, Cultural Secretary, MCCSC, and a closing prayer led by Zashebonu Savi, President, MCCEU.
