Konathung Daniel Patton, a Class VIII student at Jubilee Memorial School, Mokokchung, bagged the runner-up position in the National Science Seminar 2024 for school students, organized by the National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He was declared one of the nine ‘National Runners-Up’ in a competition involving 32 states and union territories. The seminar was held at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, and the topic was “Artificial Intelligence: Potentials and Concerns.”


Konathung represented the state after winning the State-Level Science Fair (Seminar & Exhibition) 2024, held on October 3 at Mt Tabor Retreat Centre, Kohima, under the aegis of the Directorate of School Education in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Nagaland. He had previously won the district-level event while representing his school, JMS, which is affiliated with CISCE, New Delhi.


Tamil Nadu won the national event, while Karnataka, Punjab, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Nagaland were adjudged runners-up. Patton was accompanied by his teacher, Sentilong, as well as his father, and he will return to Mokokchung on November 29.
