Mokokchung, 8 May (MTNews): Advisor to Chief Minister, Abu Metha held a meeting with officials of Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and Kohima Press Club (KPC) at the DIPR Citadel Kohima on 8 May.

During the meeting, KPC raised issues in relation to the welfare of journalists such as the need to introduce pension scheme, enhancement of Operational Subsidy for accredited journalists and also for facilitating the construction of KPC building with state government’s assistance keeping in view that the press clubs in the capitals of neighbouring states have all benefited from assistance of their respective state governments.

 

Metha also shared his views on how best to tackle the challenges and constraints faced by the press and media in the state, and further assured to take them up with the chief minister and the government.

 

Later, Metha tweeted, “Had a fruitful meeting with the representatives of the Kohima Press Club. We deliberated on issues related to the press and media and how we can collectively address the challenges. Appreciate the tireless work of all my media friends who carry out their responsibilities in the face of several challenges. Thanks for continuously strengthening democracy.”

 

The KPC team was led by its President, Alice Yhoshü. IPR head of department Dzuvinuo Theünuo was also present at the meeting among other officials, stated a press release issued by the KPC.

 

Metha also expressed his happiness to meet with the officers of the DIPR along with Advisor Imkong L Imchen. “We discussed several matters pertaining to elevating the performance of the department and how we can collectively better serve the citizens of Nagaland,” Metha said.

 

Metha also thanked Imchen for his positive guidance of the department with his vast knowledge and decades of experience in public affairs.
