Mokokchung, July 18 (MTNews): District Planning Development Board Mokokchung has launched a livelihood Project under LADP Common Pool 2021-22 to alleviate livelihood generation and self-reliance in Mokokchung District, on July 18.

DC Mokokchung Shashank Pratap Singh, who officially launched the project at Forest Complex, Marepkong stated that INR 10 lakhs has been allocated for poultry farming in 10 constituencies as part of this project.

He further stated that 10 beneficiaries will be selected from each assembly constituency, with 50% of the beneficiaries being SHGs, and each beneficiary receiving 100 broiler chicks.

Singh further stated that the project’s overall goal is to emphasize self-sufficiency and income generation. As the district consumes a lot of meat and poultry products, focusing on producing poultry products locally would be a significant step toward self-sufficiency, he said.

He also expressed optimism that the initiative would provide employment possibilities for many of the district’s unemployed youths.

The DC also exhorted the beneficiaries to operate in a systematic and scientific manner, and discouraged them from focusing just on making a profit overnight, but rather on providing strong pricing competition that would influence the market.

He also advised the beneficiaries to pursue sustainable business practices by investing their profits in acquiring additional chicks.

Dr Sentila, DFO Mokokchung, also said that after the end of the rearing batch of broilers by all farmers, the best farmer/performer would be judged by livability, feed conversion ratio, broiler performance efficiency ratio, and broiler farm index.
