Mokokchung, 20 May (MTNews): In view of the Meri Life Mera Swachh Shehar, Campaign on 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) under Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 initiative, the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) launched 3Rs Center at MMC Shopping Complex basement on Saturday.

With the launching of the center, all citizens have been requested to take part/donate unused items like plastic waste, old books, old footwear, old clothes and any other items which can be further refurbished, reused or processed at the RRR center located at MMC Shopping complex. It was informed that such centers will be started in the wards too.

 

This launching of the RRR center comes after a consultative meeting which the MMC organized with city level sanitation committee from 18 wards and various NGOs, SHGs under DUDA and DUDA officials of Mokokchung  on 19 May at MMC conference hall, who assured that the 3R Centers will be set up in the ULB.

 

The NGOs involved in the meeting were Clean Mokokchung Campaign, Kabor Telok, Run Mokokchung, Young Women Christian Association, and Empretec India Foundation.

 

‘Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Shehar’ is a campaign under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to promote waste management principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (RRR).

 

It aims to instill pro-environmental behavioural changes in daily life in line with the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).

The campaign will run for three weeks and will culminate on World Environment Day (5th June 2023) with a pledge for a clean and sustainable environment.

 

Similar 3R Centers were inaugurated in ward no. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 under Kohima Municipal Council at its Office, Super Market Complex Kohima, as well as in Aboi and Longleng.
