Doyang Strikers FC continued their dominant form in the 27th MDFA Trophy 2025 with a commanding 5-0 win over Sangpang Riju FC, while Super Seniors FC secured a 2-1 win against Team Gilgal, booking their spots in the semifinals.
For Doyang Strikers, Yhoto Lohe opened the scoring in the second minute, followed by Ganghui in the 20th and Khanngam Horam in the 36th. Yhoto added his second in the 48th minute before Eshong sealed the win in the 72nd minute. Sangpang Riju FC fought hard and created some brilliant moments, particularly through Khumba, but the Strikers’ strong defense proved impenetrable.
In the other quarter-final, Super Seniors FC defeated Team Gilgal 2-1. Despite dominating possession, Team Gilgal struggled to convert chances as their forwards lacked coordination and the midfielders found it difficult to break through the Super Seniors’ well-organized defense. Sentisang scored in the 40th minute, followed by Nyithung in the 70th minute. Mughato Chishi pulled one back for Gilgal in the 90th minute, but it was too late to change the outcome.
Super Seniors also created several threatening counters, putting a nervous Team Gilgal under pressure throughout the match. The defeat was a setback for Gilgal, who had been considered one of the tournament’s title contenders.
With these results, Doyang Strikers FC and Super Seniors FC will face each other in the semifinals on October 22, setting the stage for an exciting clash in the 27th MDFA Trophy 2025.
