In the aftermath of severe landslides that recently hit Tuensang, P Bashang Chang, Minister of PWD, Housing & Mechanical Engineering, visited the devastated areas yesterday.

Expressing deep empathy with the residents of Phinjang, the minister called for all precautionary measures to minimize further damage.

Acknowledging the severity of the situation at the highest levels of the state government, Chang urged local leaders to collectively assess the impact of the landslide and address the matter with the Chief Minister. At NST Ward, the minister was briefed on the recurring nature of the disaster. Chang vowed to present the issue to higher authorities to seek a suitable and long-term solution for the affected residents.

“Continuous downpour over the last few months has severely hit the normal life of many and at least 251 houses have been partially or totally damaged.30 families & approx 150 people are currently taking shelter in the relief camp set up by DDMA Tuensang at C-Khel, Tuensang Village,” Chang posted on X.
