The Merangkong Laishir Telungjem (MLT) has officially released a historic musical tribute titled “Longjanglepzük”, honouring the life, faith and legacy of Longjanglepzük, the first Ao Naga from Merangkong village to embrace Christianity.

Longjanglepzük was baptised 175 years ago at Sibsagar, Assam, on September 7, 1851. Composed by Imna Yaden, the musical project is an initiative of the MLT to preserve the community’s rich historical and spiritual heritage. The release aims to inspire current and future generations through music by highlighting the enduring courage of early believers.
The song dedication was held at Bethel Prayer Home, Nuton Bosti, Dimapur. The dedicatory prayer and handing over of the launch certificate to Imna Yaden were conducted by R. Amenla Imsong, founder-director of Bethel Prayer Home, marking a significant milestone for the community.
The song is now available to the public on YouTube, serving as a reminder of a pioneering faith journey that shaped the region’s history.
To further commemorate the historic milestone, a special Thanksgiving Programme will be held on September 7, 2026, at Merangkong village.
The community and well-wishers have been invited to join the celebration, marking the exact anniversary of the pioneering baptism.
