Mokokchung, 1 September (MTNews): The Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) has announced that the MDFA Trophy 2023 has been rescheduled. The tournament, which was originally slated to kick off on 19 September, will now be held from 17 October to 3 November.
The MDFA on Friday informed through a press release that the decision to reschedule the tournament was made after careful consideration of two key factors – alignment with Dr T Ao Trophy, and favorable weather conditions and health considerations.
The MDFA had previously adjusted its annual calendar to accommodate the Dr T Ao Trophy, which was initially scheduled for October 2023. However, with the recent rescheduling of the Dr T Ao Trophy to February 2024, the MDFA Executive Council has decided to revert to its original calendar for hosting the MDFA Trophy. “This ensures that football enthusiasts have the opportunity to participate in both prestigious tournaments without conflicts,” MDFA said.
The MDFA also stated that the revised schedule for the MDFA Trophy in October offers more favorable weather conditions, providing an enhanced playing experience for both the teams and the spectators. Additionally, considering prevalent health concerns, MDFA said the new dates align better with safety protocols.
Consequently, the last date for the submission of registration forms and club registration/renewals is 30 September, 2023. Clubs and players can obtain the necessary forms from 3 Kits Photo House, Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung Town.
The MDFA said that it understands the anticipation and excitement surrounding the MDFA Trophy, and that it appreciates the understanding and support of the football community. “MDFA remains committed to delivering a thrilling and safe tournament in October 2023,” the football body assured.
