Mokokchung, 21 January (MTNews): Following the completion of selection trials aimed at identifying and forming a formidable football team to represent the district in the upcoming Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG) scheduled for February 2024, the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) has released the names of the selected players.
A total of 18 players were chosen after the trials held on 13 January 2024 at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
The Mokokchung district football team could potentially be one of the youngest teams in the competition.
The oldest member is 30-year-old defender Limakumzuk. Among the 18 players, at least 11 are in their teens, with right-forward player Imsuwapang being the youngest at 16 years. The team’s average age is 20.27 years.
As of the time of this news report, the team captain, vice-captain, and support staff had yet to be named.
