The Tsungremmung festival, one of the most significant and vibrant festivals of the Ao Naga community, was celebrated in Mokokchung village on 1 August.

In Mokokchung village, the celebration was organized by the Mokokchung Kaketshir Mungdang and was graced by Advisor Imkongmar as the special guest. Held at Jungli Arjuma, the festivities were marked by traditional dances, songs, and displays of traditional games such as walking with bamboo, bamboo pole climbing, and Go-Karting. The villagers donned their traditional attire, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Ao Naga community. The celebrations also included a grand feast where the entire village came together to share in the bounty of the harvest.

Advisor Imkongmar, in his speech, stressed the need for the festival to have a clear objective. He noted that unlike in the days of their forefathers, when blessings were sought for an abundant harvest, today’s world requires a different approach. He suggested that the unity of the Mokokchung people, along with their neighbors, which helped elect him as a member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), could be considered a blessing.

Imkongmar emphasized the importance of understanding politics in order to progress in today’s world. He highlighted that in politics, humility and kindness are essential for moving forward. Additionally, he stressed the importance of imparting education to the youth, underlining its significance for their future.

MMC Chairman Imkongchuba, DC Mokokchung and other dignitaries were also present in the event.
