The FIFA-grade Astroturf football ground at Rempukong, Ungma, located about 5 km from Mokokchung town along NH202 Tuensang road is taking shape and nearing completion.
Once completed, it will become the first astroturf football ground in Mokokchung district and one of the very few in Nagaland. The rostrum is expected to be completed before the onset of the rainy season while the modular galleries are expected to be installed by year end.
MDFA president Akok Longkumer told MT that the stadium, initiated by NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer, would boost football and athleticism in the district. He also said that district and state level events would be held at the pitch once completed, reinforcing hopes that the next MDFA Trophy would be held at the new playground.
