During his visit to Nagaland, Minister of State for Steel & Rural Development, Faggan Singh Kulaste, expressed concern over the marketing of products crafted by Self Help Groups (SHGs). He directed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung to liaise with the tribal ministry and other relevant agencies to establish an effective platform for promoting SHG products. Singh voiced these concerns while engaging with SHGs at the Rural Assembly hall in Ungma Village, during his two-day trip. Accompanying him was the Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Government of Nagaland.
The minister also ensured that he will also talk with officials of the central government for the marketing of their products.
The minister also held a review meeting on all the centrally sponsored schemes with the district officials at the DC conference hall where he directed the DC to give special attention to PMAY-G, Jal Jeevan Mission, AADHAR seeding of beneficiaries among others.

Later, at the Rural Assembly hall in Ungma Village, Singh interacted with SHG members alongside representatives from the village council. He highlighted the significant rise in SHG membership from 2.31 crores to 10 crores across 90 lakh SHGs since 2014, reaffirming the government’s commitment to empowering women, as outlined in the recent budget, that is, to make lakhpadi Didi’s from 2 crores to 3 crores.
Singh reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to empower more women and engaged with Tsuktizungla, President of the Ongpangkong North Block Level Federation, to discuss expanding SHG membership.
Tsuktizungla mentioned that her village currently has 116 SHG members, which pleased Singh, encouraging her to further increase SHG membership. Earlier in the morning, the minister also visited Mopungchuket village and observed the traditional culture and art of the village.

He expressed appreciation for the village council Chairman, Arenba, and encouraged them to preserve the tradition through sculptures, museums, and showcases.
The MoS later departed for Kohima and met Nagaland Governor La Ganesan.
