Mokokchung, 15 February (MTNews): Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Thsüvisie Phoji, NCS have announced the immediate restriction of heavy motor vehicles (HMV), heavy goods motor vehicles (HGMV), and heavy passenger motor vehicles (HPMV) from crossing Longpong Bridge between Longjang and Kilengmen villages along the Asetkong-Tsusangra (AT) Road. This decision comes after a portion of the bridge’s deck slab was found damaged, posing a risk to public safety.
The restriction, effective from 17 February 2024 will last for 29 days to allow for essential repair works. During this period, it was informed that only light motor vehicles (LMV) will be permitted to use the bridge.
Area Administrative Officers, along with law enforcement agencies, have been tasked with monitoring compliance with the directive. Failure to adhere to these restrictions will result in penal action as per relevant laws, the DC informed.
