MUSiK-A has celebrated its 10th anniversary with enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy at Town Hall, Dimapur, marking a significant milestone in its journey of promoting music and nurturing talent in Nagaland.

Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, who attended as Chief Guest, expressed pleasure at being part of the celebration. He described the occasion as not merely a passage of time but a testament to dedication, passion, and the unifying power of music. Over the past decade, MUSiK-A has established itself as a prominent platform in the state’s cultural landscape, fostering creativity and providing opportunities for musicians across generations.
He highlighted music’s role in bridging differences, stating that it transcends language, tribe, and background, bringing people together in harmony. MUSiK-A was lauded for strengthening unity through artistic expression. He also appreciated Alobo Naga, founder of MUSiK-A, for his vision and sustained efforts in building the platform and nurturing young talent.
Yadav noted that the event underscored Nagaland’s rich musical heritage, from folk traditions and church choirs to contemporary bands. He urged young artists to pursue their passion with discipline and perseverance, adding that music carries the responsibility to inspire and uplift society.
Director of MUSiK-A, Alobo Naga, in his keynote address, described the institution’s journey as evolving from a personal calling into a community-driven movement. He recalled that the idea took shape after a 2015 tour to Hong Kong, which inspired him to give back to society.
Highlighting challenges faced by young musicians, he said limited access to formal music education led to the founding of Musika Society in 2016 with the motto “share, educate and be enriched.” Since then, the institute has trained over 1,000 youths and organised more than 250 events across Nagaland and Assam, while supporting over 250 individuals in pursuing artistic careers.
Former Minister Y. Vikheho Swu underscored MUSiK-A’s role in preserving Naga cultural heritage, particularly through documentation of folk music. Former MLA Khriehu Liezietsu noted that the institute has grown into a premier music institution in the state.
The programme began with the national song and anthem, followed by an invocation by Rev. Khetoi Shikhu of Thilixu Village Baptist Church. Musical performances, including “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” (3rd Movement), highlighted the event.
Hosted by Kekhrie Ringa Jakha, the celebration concluded with an interaction session. MUSiK-A continues to stand as a significant cultural institution in Dimapur, fostering artistic growth and inspiring future musicians.
