The business side of content creation is set to take centre stage at the second Nagaland Influencers Summit, with creators being introduced to issues ranging from contracts and fees to intellectual property and talent management.
The two-day summit, scheduled for September 11 and 12 at Tetso College and Agri Expo, Chümoukedima, comes at a time when content creation is increasingly being treated as paid work rather than simply a social-media activity.
One of the sessions at this year’s summit will focus specifically on the legal and commercial aspects of working as a creator. It will cover contract clauses, fees and deliverables, negotiations, intellectual property and content-usage rights, as well as representation by managers and agents.
The program will also address issues such as exclusivity, termination clauses and other obligations that creators may encounter when entering commercial agreements.
This marks a shift from the largely celebratory side of influencer culture towards the practical issues involved in making content creation a sustainable profession.
The first Nagaland Influencers Summit, held in 2025, had similarly positioned content creation as a potential avenue for self-employment and sought greater recognition and market value for local creators.
This year’s summit follows a month-long Creators for Community Initiative that took creators beyond online platforms and into communities in Kohima, Mon, Tuensang and Noklak.
The initiative raised around Rs 7.5 lakh for families affected by landslides in Mon, with the money mobilised through street collections, online campaigns, livestreams and contributions from creators, artists, gamers and members of the public. The organisers said the relief fund was subsequently used to assist affected families.
In Tuensang and Noklak, participating creators also provided educational materials, equipment and other support to children’s homes and community organisations.
The main summit will be held on September 11, followed by a concert and the NIS 2026 gala and awards ceremony on September 12 at Agri Expo, Chümoukedima.
