The Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) has lauded Kiran Prabhu Navgire, who represented Nagaland Cricket Association Women’s team this season as a professional player. “Her innings against Arunachal Pradesh is the highest individual score in the T20 format in Domestic Cricket. This innings of 162 not out laced with 16 sixes and 10 fours caught the attention of the franchisees and got her a place to play in this tournament,” NCA said in a press release.

NCA stated that in the ongoing T20 Women’s Challenge, which is equivalent to the men’s IPL, Prabhu making her debut and hitting a first ball six requires nerves of steel. “But continuing in the same vein to hit the fastest fifty in 25 balls and ensuring her team’s qualification for the final is nothing short of commendable.” NCA said. “It was sheer class and power on display and caught the attention of those who matter as both top national and international players are part of it,” NCA further said, and wished added that the Nagaland Cricket Association wishes her the very best in her endeavors and “feel proud of her achievements as she is a part of our family.”

The 26-year-old has been setting the domestic scene on fire with a prolific run in the recently-concluded Senior Women’s T20 trophy. Navgire racked up 525 runs for Nagaland and led the run-scoring charts in the tournament.

Navgire, who initially plied her trade for Maharashtra, made the switch to Nagaland after failing to receive enough opportunities to play in the state team. Her consistent performances took Nagaland to the knockouts but the side failed to make the quarterfinals.
