The Nagaland Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (NPMCC) has expressed deep shock and outrage over the assault of a female nursing intern at the District Hospital Dimapur on February 24, 2025. In a statement issued by the committee, the NPMCC condemned the incident, describing it as “heinous” and unacceptable, especially considering it occurred in a healthcare institution designed to offer care and protection.
“We extend our full support to the victim and her family,” stated Sentila Imchen, Vice President of NPMCC. “We stand with civil society organizations, student bodies, and women’s groups in demanding justice, and we urge law enforcement authorities to take immediate and decisive action against the perpetrator(s).”
The NPMCC further emphasized the incident as a stark reflection of serious security lapses within public institutions. The committee has called on relevant authorities to implement stricter security measures in hospitals and other public institutions to ensure the safety of all individuals, especially women.
