Nagaland Police have successfully apprehended two individuals, Amul Prakash Tong (40) and Prateek Jairam Nikhade (35), accused of defrauding a Dimapur doctor of Rs 55 lakh. As per media reports there, the arrests took place during a raid conducted in Nagpur, Maharashtra, with the assistance of local authorities.

According to investigators, Tong and Nikhade, partners in a sports equipment and furniture business located in Padole Nagar, Nagpur, lured the doctor by promising to supply materials for a planned game zone. In 2021, the doctor, believing their claims, transferred the hefty sum of Rs 55 lakh to the duo. However, after receiving the payment, they vanished, failing to deliver the promised materials and ignoring the doctor’s repeated attempts to contact them.

Undeterred, the doctor filed a complaint with the Dimapur police, sparking a thorough investigation. Detectives traced the accused to Nagpur, prompting a Nagaland police team to travel there with the support of Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-I Anurag Jain. With the cooperation of Sonegaon police, they successfully apprehended Tong and Nikhade.

Following their arrest, both suspects were produced in court and a production warrant was obtained. They have now been brought back to Nagaland to face further legal proceedings.
